#WorldSeries

Today's wordcloud is for #WorldSeries, which is basically an American baseball event. In reality the world doesn't care much about baseball and so the world series is a misnomer!

You may be wondering why Fox is right in the center. Well, as it turns out, Fox lost power and so the broadcasting stopped and even the game stopped for 7 minutes. The details are here:

Anyway, from the wordcloud is is apparent that Fox got some unwanted publicity with this. On the other hand, for the hashtag #worldseries, Fox name was unnecessarily attached to it.


Considering the popularity of world series, the sentiment is far less positive than one would expect. However, I think that this is because of the Fox fiasco.

#EgyptAir

The big news today is that a plane carrying 66 people from Paris to Cairo has disappeared. Just now Guardian reported that French president Hollande has confirmed that the plane has crashed but no cause for the crash has been determined yet. The plane is still missing though. The wordcloud is as expected talking about the flight from Paris to Cairo. It's speculated that the plance went down in the Mediterranean and that's why you see this word appearing a few times in the tweets. It seems that the tweets are simply spreading this news. There is a little mention of prayers. Literally no mention of terrorism or terrorist, which implies that people are not openly speculating that yet. The sentiment is surprisingly positive. I can't figure out why! Perhaps the tweets mentioning prayers, praying, families, thoughts, etc. are adding to this.

#The Bachelor

I had watched a few episodes of The Bachelor over the years. By few I mean 2-3. So I know what the show is all about. Today the hashtag #The Bachelor was trending and I decided to use it for the wordcloud. Right off the bat there were a few things I didn't quite get because I don't watch the show. What is Lace and Ben? Or, rather who are they? Well, you can read up more about them here:  http://www.inquisitr.com/2681778/get-to-know-lace-morris-of-the-bachelor-2016-with-ben-higgins/  According to this article, Lace Morris is the girl everyone on the show is gonna hate from now on. I didn't find anything strange about her though and she comes across as a regular The Bachelor contestant. Take a look: Anyway, here is the wordcloud and the sentiment graph. The sentiment is not as positive as I expected but anyway.
